Wide Open Excursions and Miller Motorsports Park Announces Off-Road Joint Venture

Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park recently announced a partnership with Wide Open Excursions which should offer enthusiasts a unique off-road experience. Called “Wide Open Utah,” this program will give off-road aficionados the chance to ride along with a pro driver on MMP’s new high-speed off-road course or take a two-day driving excursion that makes use of Miller’s other off-road courses as well as several off-roading areas throughout Utah.

Participants will get to drive or ride in purpose-built off-road racers called Baja Challenge cars. These vehicles weigh in at just 2,600 lbs. and come equipped with 190-horsepower Subaru engines — good enough for a top speed of nearly 100 mph. With 17 inches of suspension travel, these vehicles are capable of handling virtually any kind of terrain. In fact, Wide Open Excursion’s racing team entered a similar car in the Score Tecate Baja 1000 and finished fourth in class. If it’s good enough for the Baja 1000, then it’s probably not such a bad ride.

Seeing as how Wide Open Excursions has brought the off-road experience to more than 16,000 people and Miller Motorsports Park is the region’s most renowned racing venue, this joint venture seems to make a good deal of sense.
