Jim Stobaugh,(Sto), a native San Diegan, now residing in Sedona, AZ is a US Navy Veteran, and retiree from Dept of Defense.  He got “hooked” on off roading when he attended the very first Baja 500 in 1969!

His very first off road car was a powerful 36 H.P. VW based Meyer’s Manx.  Since owning that first off road car Sto has owned over 25 different vehicles from Baja Bugs, to trucks, to pre-runners.

He started with Wide Open as a volunteer for their race program in 2002 and started guiding tours in 2004.

Sto loves guiding Wide Open tours because each one is a unique and challenging adventure.  He enjoys meeting people from all over the world and sharing with them the Baja Experience.
