4 DAY ADVENTURE

CABO SAN LUCAS, BAJA

Activity Length: 4 Day

Location: Cabo – La Paz – La Paz –Cabo

For those in the know, Mexico’s favorite tropical paradise at land’s end in Baja has become the next French Riviera, and Wide Open Excursions has a tour departing from the sunny shores of Cabo San Lucas. Our guests can explore the vast expanse of southern Baja’s wide open spaces from this world-class vacation destination. Pristine beaches, beautiful desert vistas, steep inland canyons, and quaint villages on the stunning blue Sea of Cortez. It’s all there for you, and all starting and finishing in a vibrant location legendary for the planet’s best off-road driving, deep sea fishing and entertaining nightlife.

DAY 1 | ARRIVAL DAY

Meet your Wide Open guide in the Tesoro lobby at 6:00pm for a fun and comprehensive Driver’s Orientation after which you will enjoy dinner at the Baja Cantina. Our professional guides will make sure everyone is familiar with our race cars, understands tour procedures and gets properly fitted with safety equipment. Please make sure that you limit your liquid enjoyment and taste of Baja until after the briefing so that you can fully assimilate the important information you will be given. Once our dinner is complete, we encourage you to relax poolside or venture into town for an evening of Cabo’s rockin’ nightlife. Enjoy!

DAY 2 | CABO - LA PAZ

Following an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the cars, located 25 minutes north of town. After our professional guides have reviewed the race cars, tour procedures and safety equipment, it’s time to fire up the engines. You begin your once in a lifetime adventure driving Baja’s superb rolling hill roads before hitting the Pacific Coast and winding your way up to the historic surfing paradise Todos Santos, where you break for a superb oceanfront lunch. Following lunch, you head back up the Pacific Coast before crossing the peninsula towards La Paz. But be careful. Maintained roads and paths are scarce on this part of the journey and cactus forests are thick—get the point? Earn that same sense of accomplishment that all heroic Baja racers before you have as you drop down onto the legendary “Waterfall” trail that leads to the seaside community of La Paz. We’ll stay at the 7 Crowns Hotel nestled right in the heart of town. Enjoy dinner al Fresco at one of the many great dining options with an after-dinner stroll down the boardwalk back to the hotel. It is history and relaxation all rolled into one perfect Baja evening.

DAY 3 | LA PAZ LOOP

Prepare for one of the best adrenaline filled days driving Baja has to offer as we thunder on west across the peninsula, uphill and down dale, to the Pacific Ocean through magnificent canyons and washes down to the Baja coastline, so pretty it hurts your eyes. On route you’ll stop at one of several of our superb “secret” lunch spots only known to us. Lean back, take in the views and enjoy another sumptuous lunch. How about shrimp or chicken fajitas, fresh salsa, guacamole and hot tortillas – cooked by our tour chef right on the spot.

You will hit some very wide and fast roads before crossing Highway 1 at “Las Pocitas” after which we thunder on west across the peninsula, uphill and down dale, to the Pacific Ocean through magnificent canyons and washes down to the Baja coastline, so pretty it hurts your eyes.

As you arrive late afternoon after a long days drive, you will be more than ready to relax at the Hotel Paradise, on the outskirts of La Paz, relaxing and enjoying the smooth margaritas, cold beers, and snacks before heading back to the 7 Crowns Hotel.

DAY 4 | LA PAZ - CABO

Brace yourself. Take a deep breath. Today is the day of adventure. After breakfast, your first challenge is the famous Waterfall—uphill. Then, you get some fast running along open roads and speed through fun two track trails punctuated with cactus forests so thick you feel like you’re driving in a cactus tunnel. Carve through sand washes right to left loading and unloading your car’s suspension like a skier in fresh powder—at much higher speeds, of course. After the adrenaline pumping drive, settle in for a great afternoon run to Cabo San Lucas. The mountainous trails snake through rolling plateaus, and dip, dive, and swerve into stark solitude where you’ll be stunned by the magnificence of nature’s beauty. Time permitting, you get to take the high road and trail past ancient oaks and woody shrub land before blazing into Candelaria, down dry riverbeds on the rush back to base and a moving farewell to the machines that took you everywhere you never knew you wanted to see. Part of that farewell is an ice cold cerveza—because what trip to Baja would be complete without one?—before taking the short ride back to where the adventure started. And if you have the time in your itinerary to spend some time soaking in the ambience, golfing, fishing, or doing nothing at all.

“ We will always look back and remember what a great time we had flying down the dirt roads, over jumps, through ruts and banked corners, with the cactus whizzing by sometimes within inches of the car. We became better friends because of the adventure and it gave us some stories too (and bragging rights).”
